Blendtrekking

OK, so if any of you know me at all, you know I'm rather married to my BlendTec blender. We have that kind of relationship. I have packed this thing in my luggage more times than I count. I have taken it in the car across the country. I will not part with it.

We go way back two years. I have blended 867 times as of this morning. I rely on it for everything, especially morning smoothies. In these smoothies I pack a days' worth of nutrition and antioxidants. I stuff it with greens, quinoa, chia seeds, fruits and veggies, and anything else healthy I have in the house. The kids and I count on it.

Let's just say, it's taken some serious tweaking to get the right ingredients here but I've done the best I can so far. Given that we can't eat anything green until the monsoons are over (I know, can you imagine? Otherwise you end up with nasty cyclosporiasis, which is not fun at all). So no greens. I managed to find some frozen blueberries (cost $6 for a tiny package, better than the $26 raspberries I didn't buy), some juice, some fresh fruit, frozen chopped spinach. I don't like/trust the yogurt here, so while I'm waiting for my yogurt cultures to arrive so I can make my own, I added almonds for protein. All in all, it turned out OK. The kids knew we were back in business. (Some didn't mind the hiatus so much).

And just for fun, let me post a few of my favorite Blendtrekking moments during the last two years (I mean it is August, our 2-year anniversary):
