Day One of School. Today.
In fact, as I write this they are still en route and probably will be for another 45 minutes or so.
We have a new Kindergartner this year and he's so excited. Can you tell?
So far I've been blessed with kids who love school. I mean LOVE school. They have been hyper for a week at the thought of going back. Last night was the same level of energy as Christmas Eve, with equal anticipation. They really, really love school (or at least the thought of school). I hope that lasts a good long time.
They will be attending the Lincoln School, which has a well-established reputation since they opened here in 1954. Class sizes are small, teachers and support staff are excellent, and it looks to be a good year. They don't really give homework, either, believing that the kids put in so much time during the day that when they come home they should be able to play and spend time with family. Cool! I don't even have to provide any school supplies. Not one pencil, notebook, folder, eraser, standing in line at Staples and Walmart (good thing). Nothing. Oh, except an atlas (which we have plenty of). How can I complain about a school that only requires an atlas? Good news. Oh, and the kids see monkeys in the trees out their windows.
We walked to the bus stop bright and early today this morning. The kids even tried out their new face masks everyone wears.
So, here's to a new chapter. Let's hope it reads well!
