Wonderful normalness

Do you ever just get to the end of the day and give thanks for another day of normal? Another day that has passed without major incident. Another day of routine. Another day that I have my children around me, calling me Mom, wanting to be with me, needing me. Another day of health and safety. I'm grateful for these days. I love the random, normal, day-to-day moments that make up my life, like the rainy days we get to stay in our pajamas all day.

I love spending time with my children. I don't see them enough nowadays, with their long commute to and from school. Many days they get home just in time to eat dinner and get ready for bed. I hate that, but can't change it, so we just make the most of the time we do have together. One of my favorite parts of the day is making the rounds before I go to bed. The kids are asleep, the house is dark and quiet, as I sneak into everyone's rooms. I rearrange tangled covers and make the blanket covers their toes. I hear them breathing deeply, lost in their dreams that I will surely hear about the next morning. I feel content knowing that we are all safe and home and together. Another day.
