Entertaining

A big part of our life overseas is entertaining. Sure, we used to have friends over for dinner occasionally when we lived in Salt Lake City. There, we were all part of a greater network of extended family and friends in closer proximity. We got together, it was just...different. We didn't rely on each other in the same way.

Since living overseas, we have opened our home to dozens and dozens of friends, work colleagues, church members, neighbors, and out of town visitors. Seldom does a week pass without some form of company coming for dinner. Except for our local neighbors, everyone is far from home and we become each other's family. It is such a great opportunity to strengthen relationships and meet new people. In Nepal, we have a beautiful home but a very small dining room. The logistics are more challenging, as you can see from the kids stuck in the kitchen. I'm not sure how we'll do Thanksgiving, but we'll figure it out. Hey, we've already ordered turkey...
